Basics – #3 The Holy Spirit
19 Sep 2019On the day of Pentecost, Jesus’ followers were filled with the Holy Spirit.1 Peter the Apostle explained to the people listening that this was:
- the power that Jesus had promised to the disciples2
- the promise of Jesus to believers3
- the fulfilment of Old Testament prophecy4
Churches started to spring up as people were filled with the Holy Spirit. People were baptised in water and they began to hold meetings.5
By being filled with the Holy Spirit:
- we are saved6
- God’s love is placed in our hearts7
- we become the children of God8
- we are shown the truth9
- we are freed from sin10
- we receive power11
- God and Jesus come into our lives12
- we can worship God in spirit and truth13
- we are comforted14
- we receive God’s confirmation that we are believers15
- we receive gifts of the spirit16
- we receive the fruit of the spirit17
- we speak in tongues18
Being filled with the Holy Spirit is essential to becoming a new person. This is the life that God has always intended us to live.
You will know you are filled with the Holy Spirit when you speak in tongues.
