National Youngies Camp (NYC) 2019

24 May 2019

The annual National Youngies Camp (NYC) goes into my calendar every year, because I just don’t want to miss it! And this year didn’t disappoint. We had the biggest NYC since it’s inception, with over 180 young people (and young at heart) from all over Australia and overseas.

Held just south of Sydney in the beautiful Stanwell Tops, we came together learning, growing and having fun in the things of the Lord. The theme this year was ‘Foundations – Building on Him’ – and it was a weekend filled with great ministry from the brothers in the Lord. There were heavenly chorus sessions, diligent prayer times, marvellous testimonies and just wholesome fun & games shared with each other.

There were innumerable gems to takeaway from the weekend. We were:

  • Encouraged to build good habits in prayer “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,” Jude 1:20 KJV
  • Challenged to make a deal with ourselves and Jesus to apply the simple building blocks of humility, prayer, mercy, faith and enable ourselves to take step after step, build brick after brick. “Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day, But They Were Laying Bricks Every Hour”.
  • Encouraged to understand how good God is, that through Jesus Christ He has done all things for you and me. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV

I could go on and on, but I won’t. The talks were recorded and are available to listen to here … I highly recommend listening to them.

As the weekend drew to an end I heard so many say “This was the best NYC ever”. But the thing that tops it off for me have been the conversations since camp. The spiritual discussions I have enjoyed with my brothers and sisters in Christ that have flowed on from what we have each learnt and are using to now build our life in strength, with each other, and with Jesus as the Foundation.

After a weekend like this, I definitely feel rich. Praise the Lord.
