My Corner of the Vineyard – Central Coast

10 May 2018

Here on the Central Coast, the Lord has blessed us abundantly! We have a wonderful ministry team led by Pastor Peter Moore, plenty of great fellowship, and geographically – it’s just a beautiful place to live!

The fellowship has been meeting on the Central Coast for approximately 40 years. In 1979 Pastor Rex Haese moved from Adelaide to Gosford to lead a small group of saints living on the Coast. In the mid 1980’s, the assembly bought land and built a mud brick hall, Sunday school rooms and a pastor’s residence. This was a huge feat for a small assembly (likened to building Noah’s Ark). More recently, we hold our Sunday meetings in a local school hall.

The Central Coast has approximately 350,000 residents and is positioned neatly between Sydney and Newcastle. We have many coastal suburbs, which attract tourists, such as Terrigal, Avoca and The Entrance. It’s a great place to live, especially for young families.

With approximately 100 saints, we have a diverse fellowship group from young to old. We have lots of young families and a lively bunch of Youngies. The saints are always getting together somewhere on the Coast.

Our ‘Events’ team organise a great range of activities, which we all look forward to. Some of the more popular events include La Premiere (our annual short film festival), fancy dress-ups, lucky-dip dinners and high tea garden parties.

The highlight of the year is our annual weekend away at Morisset camp. It’s a wonderful time to spiritually refuel with uplifting talks and a never-ending supply of cups of tea and fellowship. From sun up to sun down, the kids (of all ages) can be found riding bikes, skateboards and scooters (or anything on wheels), playing table tennis or shooting hoops.
